Planning on using the Central line this Friday? You’ll want to have a rethink.
The ASLEF union has announced plans for a tube strike on 5 October — forcing the entire Central line out of action for the whole day.
There’ll be no service on the line from Friday between 12.01am and 11.59pm. It’s the result of disputes between ASLEF and London Underground surrounding “management’s failure to deal with several issues” (ASLEF’s words).
Finn Brennan, ASLEF’s organiser on the Underground, said
Industrial action is always the last resort but, given the intransigence of management on a whole range of issues affecting our members, we have, reluctantly, decided this is our only course of action.
Although the strike action is only planned on one line, there may be knock-on effects on other tube lines and buses as people seek alternative routes.
