Got an older iPhone? Don’t install Apple’s latest iOS software on it, US carrier T-Mobile warned Thursday before instructing users later in the day how on how to resolve the issue.
“iPhone 6, 6+ & 5SE customers — Do not download iOS10. We are getting reports of connectivity issues & Apple is working on a fix,” T-Mobile tweeted Thursday. “If you have taken iOS10 on those iPhones, you can temporarily fix by powering down & back up. Permanent update coming within 24-48 hrs,” T-Mobile added.
It’s a black mark for Apple’s latest software for iPhones and iPads, which many users often race to install as soon as it’s available. But some upgrade problems inevitably crop up with new operating systems, including one problem Apple said it already fixed.Apple didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. T-Mobile declined to comment beyond its corporate tweets and those from Chief Executive John Legere and Chief Technology Officer Neville Ray.
T-Mobile said issued an update late Thursday that said Apple had resolved the connectivity problem and explaining that affected customers could by correct the issue by going to their handset’s settings, click General and then clicking on About to install the fix.
T-Mobile also said that customers who had not yet downloaded the new mobile operating system were safe to do so.
