More than 7 million tweet their feelings on England match

More than seven million tweets about the England v Italy game were registered by Twitter during the broadcast.

A total of 7.2 million tweets were recorded, with Daniel Sturridge reaching 219,637 tweets per minute.

Other most-discussed moments included Claudio Marchisio and Mario Balotelli.

Another popular moment was when England physio Gary Lewin collapsed in agony after over-celebrating Sturridge’s glorious goal.

The embarrassing fail left him with an injured ankle which could see his exit from the World Cup.

The Lions were defeated 2-1.

England face Uruguay on Thursday.
