Free expression is wonderful, but there are certain things you just can’t do – even when making an artistic statement.

These rules obviously didn’t seem to be of much importance to one man who was arrested yesterday for playing a violin naked outside a Portland courthouse.

The man, who identified himself as 25-year-old Matthew T. Mglej, had reportedly been warned several times by the authorities about his ‘lack of attire’ before his musical finale saw him being arrested.

Police were forced to carry the man after he refused to walk to a squad car.

The arrest took place during Portland’s annual World Naked Bike Ride, where police allow nudity as long as participants keep to the designated route.

Mr Mglej clearly missed the memo and was jailed under the Portland city code forbidding indecent exposure.
