Two over-amorous donkeys have been reunited after being separated following complaints about their non-stop lovemaking.

Antonina and Napoleon, who have been together for 10 years, were made to live in separate pens at Poznan Zoo, Poland, after mothers complained that their children had to witness their constant mating and a local official took up the cause.

But after a petition signed by 7,000 people and vocal support from public figures, the passionate duo – who have six offspring – are now back together.

‘Animals separated by sex into different cages? It’s complete idiocy,’ said Stefan Niesiolowski of governing party Civic Platform.

The decade-long donkey romance has become a national news story in Poland, with psychologists and politicians weighing in on the issue.

Even the Law and Justice party, whose official was behind the separation, refused to defend her actions.

‘It’s a level of absurdity that has been crossed to such an extent that I don’t even want to read or know about this,’ said spokesman Adam Hofman on Wednesday.
