A takeaway delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint – for an £11 pizza.

The 29-year-old was approached by two men while making the delivery for Cosmos Takeaway. One of the robbers, who was carrying a black handgun, demanded the driver hand over £15 he was carrying, his mobile phone and the pizza before running away.

The driver was left shaken but unharmed after the robbery in Pitsea, Essex, in the early hours of Monday.

Sgt Angie Torrance said: ‘Essex Police are treating this incident extremely seriously. This was a terrifying attack on a man while he was at work. It is extremely important this pair are caught.’

Both robbers are described as aged 16 to 20 years, 1.7m (5ft 7in) to 1.78m (5ft 10in) tall, slim and wearing jeans and a hoodie.
