Azzurri adds connectivity services to Icon cloud suite

Azzurri has added connectivity tools to its cloud-hosted Icon suite

Azzurri has added connectivity services to its Intelligent Cloud Optimised Network (Icon) suite of cloud-hosted tools. The new Icon Connect service offers wireless and fixed communications services delivered over a single network setup.

Azzurri said offering these tools is key to ensuring firms operating in the cloud have good, reliable connectivity that makes apps and data easily accessible, as well as being able to scale bandwidth as demand rises or falls.

The offerings from the Icon Connect tool include ADSL, fibre-to-the-cabinet, Ethernet, dark fibre and wireless offerings covering WiFi, 3G and 4G. Customers can pick and choose the services they want, delivered over a private infrastructure managed by Azzurri.

Rufus Grig, chief technology officer of Azzurri, told V3 that with increasing numbers of customers using cloud systems, the need for the connectivity tools to underpin this is vital.

“Firms don’t buy network to shift 1s and 0s but to let people do the work they need to do and use the applications they need,” he said. “Many office sites are dependent on their network and the technologies they are using in the cloud, so connectivity has become vital.”

As such Grig said that letting firms outsource connectivity needs would also ensure customers always had the best technologies in place for their businesses’ needs, something the firm has been providing for some time.

“We have worked like this with clients for a while so it’s the sort of methodology we have worked with before, so we’ve taken that work we’ve done and can build on that to help build out networks that have a life span of many years,” he said.

The tool is the latest in the Icon suite, following on from Icon Communicate, which offers communications tools around IP telephony, unified communications, presence and contact centre services and Icon Mobilise for mobile device-management needs.
