Bad smell sparks chain reaction of vomit in nightmare plane journey

A plane journey from hell was forced to make an emergency landing after a strange odour sparked a chain reaction of vomit.

The nightmarish scenes took place after take-off from Ben Gurion Airport in Israel on Friday night.

A weird smell wafted its way through the US Airways cabin.

Soon after passengers and crew members began spewing up and down the aisle.

A total of 14 crew members and two passengers fell seriously ill – prompting the Philadelphia-bound flight to make an emergency landing in Rome.

A number of people were taken to hospital and released soon after.

US Airways maintenance crews are working to discover the source of the pungent odour.
