‘Barely There’ new shorts from Channel 4 launches

Even a fashion-forward city like London may not be ready for the sight of male City workers in buttock-revealing micro suit shorts.

The bizarre sartorial trend was spotted on the streets of the capital earlier this week as temperatures soared to a sticky 26 degrees.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: JULY 29: Two models seen here at Oxford Circus in short shorts on July 29, 2014, in London, England. Dress down Friday? Thankfully Londoners can now rest easy as the extreme fashion faux-pas, which took Twitter by storm earlier this week, has now been revealed as an elaborate marketing stunt by Channel 4 to launch its new original Shorts programmes which are available to watch on the move, exclusively on Channel 4ís on-demand service, 4oD. The broadcaster engaged a tailor, who spent two weeks creating the bespoke 'barely there' bum huggers, and then deployed a team of brave male models to frequent City hotspots ñ kitted out in cringeworthy, buttock-revealing micro suit shorts. But thankfully Londoners can rest easy as the flesh-bearing craze has been revealed as an elaborate marketing stunt for Channel 4’s new original 4oD Shorts programmes.

The broadcaster deployed a crack team of brave male models to frequent City hotspots – kitted out in the kind of figure-hugging hotpants that would make even Kylie blush.

A tailor spent two weeks creating the bespoke ‘barely there’ bum huggers, before the models were dispatched to stroll through iconic sites including Canary Wharf tube station and the Square Mile.

Apprentice star Nick Hewer tweeted: ‘Micro suits on grown men! The Horror!’, while Binky from Made in Chelsea tweeted: ‘Wowza. Those are very VERY short shorts. Don’t really know where to look. *blushing*’

Channel 4’s specially commissioned original Shorts programmes for 4oD are designed to be watched anywhere on mobiles and tablets via 3G, 4G or wifi.

These brand new Shorts feature top Channel 4 names including Jamie Oliver and Food Tube celebrities, Guy Martin, Made In Chelsea’s Binky Felstead and Mark-Francis Vandelli and many more – and will also introduce many more new faces, writers and producers to 4oD from the TV and internet worlds.

Channel 4’s latest marketing film featuring more folk wearing short shorts launches on Channel 4 from Saturday 2 August 2014.
