Battlefield Hardline: Official TeaserBattlefield

Karl Magnus Troedsson, general manager at Battlefield
developer DICE, shifted the series’ focus away from warfare at this
year’s EA E3 conference to offer a clearer look at the recently
announced Battlefield Hardline.

Troedsson describes as the new style as “cops and criminals,
good guys and bad guys” and the game more akin to a crime drama TV
show. Multiplayer allows up to 32 players to compete at once, with
a demo of an attack on armoured trucks leading to carnage on the
streets. With shown gameplay switching between the robbers and the
heavily armed police trying to stop them, we got a look at weapons
each faction can use, from electric shock supertasers to modified
rifles, along with more conventional guns. There do seem to be a
few too many cues from the last main Battlefield game
though, such as entire skyscrapers collapsing for the sheer
spectacle of it.

However, the big news was that that beta for Battlefield
Hardline
launches today, on PS4 and PC. Sony’s Adam Boyes took
the stage to announce that PS4 owners of Battlefield 4 can access
the beta immediately from the live tiles on the console’s display
of the game. Alternatively, hopeful players can sign up at the
official Battlefield site (battlefield.com/Hardline). Places are
limited though, so expect server woes as a good chunk of the
internet tries to get a place.
