This adult-only Late on 12 February features dazzling activities and talks inspired by the museum’s current temporary exhibition, Night Shift.

Book now to indulge in shadow life-drawing classes, enjoy talks exploring the importance of light in city life and get involved in an artist-led light printing workshop.

Illuminate activities

Join artist Lola Lely for a cyanotype light printing workshop, using light-sensitive paint on tiles to produce a cyan-blue print which you can take home at the end of the night.

Get creative in a shadow life-drawing workshop; or make a beautiful pin-punched London landscape night-light, with the London Craft Club.

Or relax and enjoy six film shorts inspired and accompanied by newly commissioned poems, which trace the course of light at different times through the day.

Illuminate talks

Listen to Derek Ridgers, photographer and author of The Dark Carnival, as he talks about his new book and experiences of capturing images of London’s clubbing subcultures since the 1970s.

There’ll be a second talk from Florence Lam, global lighting design leader at Arup, on the notion of the 24-hour city and how human-centred night-time design and lighting has the power to shape sustainable cities that are more enjoyable, safer and easier to navigate.

In addition, you can take a curator-led tour of the museum’s new London by Design gallery.

There’ll also be a pub quiz, a DJ and the chance to sample neon cocktails from the Upper Deck bar with the museum’s special offer of two for £10. Cheers!

Illuminate tickets are on sale now: £12 for adults and £10 for concessions from The Friday late is on 12 February from 6.45pm-10pm with last entry at 9.15pm.
