Thursday 20 November
The Discount Orchestra, The Bussey Building, Peckham
To celebrate their first ever CD release the band are throwing a night of gypsy swing in darkest south London. The band are a loud, bouncy, swinging rabble. If you have never seen gypsy swing live then make sure you pick a good gig — like this one. Also, don’t expect to sit down or have time to chat to your mates, you’ll be dancing til dawn. @dcountorchestra, @Busseybuilding
Fryars, Rough Trade East, Brick Lane
This is the story of hard work: Benjamin Garrett (Fryars) started as the drummer in the school band. Then he started singing along with the radio, then writing his own tracks on his PC. Scroll forward a few years of doing remixes for other people and this Londoner is ready to release his new album, which has been five years in the gestation. Entrance to the event is free. @Fryars, @RoughTrade
Sunday 23 November
Beth Rowley, The Lexington, Kings Cross
Hailing from Bristol, Beth Rowley is known for her rich soulful voice and love of Blues and Gospel. Following the huge success of her UK top 10 album Little Dreamer in 2008, for which she was nominated for a Brit Award, she’s now back after working on her much anticipated second album. Listen to her at The Lexington tonight. @bethrowleymusic, @thelexington
