While much of Britain, secure in its tradition of good manners, poked fun of the behaviour of some of our American cousins on Black Friday, two fights broke out in a single Manchester shopping centre over a couple of cut-price items.
In footage taken at the Amdale shopping centre, three women end up trading blows following a dispute about a bargain buy. At the same time, two men traded kicks and punches outside the Exchange Square entrance in a separate incident.
Police had to step in to end the brawls, the first of which ended up being watched by more than 100 shoppers at 7pm on Friday,
‘A big crowd had stopped to watch,’ a witness told the Manchester Evening News.
‘It caused a massive scene.’
Apparently we’re not above the Black Friday frenzy after all.
