Carl Tyson and Joy White suffered unimaginable pain in 1987 when their 18-day-old daughter was kidnapped from a Harlem hospital in New York.

But their tears have turned into those of happiness after their daughter Carlina – who has now grown up – successfully tracked down her parents after being brought up by her kidnapper.

An abusive drug addict allegedly secreted baby Carlina away from New York to the neighbouring state of Connecticut under the false name, Nejdra Nance.

After years of awful mental and physical abuse, Ms White started to piece together that the woman was not her mother.

One of the final pieces of the puzzle to fall into place was when she saw a baby picture on a website linked to the Centre for Missing and Exploited.

Ms White immediately thought the baby looked just like her own six-year-old daughter Samani, and told the New York Post said: ‘I thought, maybe this could be it.’

Her mother, Joy, spoke of her happiness and ability to see herself in her daughter’s face but that Carlina has ‘a smaller body.’

This truly is a happy ending after over two decades of separation.

A woman who was kidnapped as a 19-day-old baby has been reunited with her mother - 23 years later. Carlina White, 23, was snatched from a hospital in Harlem, New York, in August 1987, by a woman posing as a nurse. She was raised as Nejdra Nance in Connecticut. But she always feared she did not belong to her family, police said, and began her own inquiries. DNA tests this week confirmed Carlina as the daughter of Joy White, who was just 16-years-old when she gave birth.
Pictured: Carlina as a baby
Ref: SPL241546 200111

Splash News and Pictures
Los Angeles:310-821-2666
New York:212-619-2666
London:870-934-2666

Splash News and Picture Agency does not claim any Copyright or License in the attached material.
