A thief wearing just a pair of underpants stole a bread truck and began delivering loaves to random businesses across New York, police say.
Bread bandit David Bastar allegedly took the truck while the real driver made a delivery at a pizzeria in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
He then began dropping off bagels, baguettes and bread to different restaurants and stores, according to police.
‘The bread was left somewhere. Where, I don’t know,’ explained bakery owner Joe Grimaldi, who said $5,000 (£3,000) worth of bread was taken.
‘It’s a bizarre incident but nothing happened to the truck. No one was hurt. There was no damage. I got my truck back.’
Baster was arrested and was charged with criminal possession of stolen goods and driving without a license.
