David Cameron is to implore MPs to back British airstrikes in Syria against Isis, according to reports.

Downing Street sources told The Sunday Times that the Prime Minister is preparing a seven-point plan for military intervention, and if MPs vote in the Commons to back airstrikes within the next fortnight, the first bombing raids will begin ‘within hours’.

Sky News reports that Mr Cameron will tell MPs to act like ‘Churchill not Chamberlain’ in the battle against terrorism.

The news comes as George Osborne announced the purchase of 138 stealth fighters for £12billion.

Mr Osborne told The Sunday Times the investment will make the UK the world’s second strongest carrier strike force after the U.S.
