Rudyard’s Kipling classic The Jungle Book is to be brought to life once more by Disney in what looks to be a visually spectacular reimagining of its original animated film. Disney has today released the first trailer for the film, providing a thrilling and ever so slightly chilling insight into what audiences can expect.
Narrated with a sinister hiss by Scarlett Johansson who plays Kaa — the snake with hypnotic powers — the trailer gives a glimpse into Kipling’s freshly interpreted adventure fantasy. The story will be presented as a live-action hybrid, with animated animals and human actors rendered against a rich jungle landscape.
The film was originally due to be released this October, but the date has now been pushed back to April 2016. It will feature Bill Murray as Baloo the bear, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera the black panther, Idris Elba as Shere Khan the tiger and Christopher Walken as King Louie.
The Jungle Book will also feature new songs written by Richard M. Sherman — one of the songwriters for the original soundtrack — and a rendition of the Bare Necessities by Bill Murray.
