Warning: article contains graphic images of domestic abuse
A woman has bravely revealed images of the injuries she suffered at the hands of her former partner.
Mum-of-three Sonia Saxby has waived her right to anonymity after David Hately left her bloody and bruised following his brutal sex attack on her using a pair of scissors.
She hopes that by releasing the images she can raise awareness and support other victims of domestic abuse.
Brave Sonia Saxby has waived her legal right to anonymity to publish these pictures which she hopes will encourage other victims of domestic abuse to get out.
Hately, 56, was jailed for ten years at Winchester Crown Court for the attack.
Sonia’s daughter, Anna, said: ‘My mum has been just so amazingly brave.’
Anna described seeing her mother’s face after the attack as a ‘nightmare’.
‘Mum was beaten, bruised, bleeding and we thought we were going to lose her,’ she added.
Sonia’s family praised the Bobby Van charity who increased the security of her home following the attack and the volunteers from the victim support unit who helped her through the ordeal.
‘It was just amazing, the amount of support – and all from charities. They get a shoestring budget and those domestic violence support workers, the lady in the court and so on – they’re all volunteers,’ said Anna.
