Accompanied by a live cellist on stage, EA launched its press
conference with a fresh look at the upcoming fantasy role-playing
gameĀ Dragon Age Inquisition.

Aaron Flynn, general studio manager at developer BioWare, set
the stage for the with new gameplay footage: you play the
Inquisitor, a nameless figure with a shadowy past, and can control
team members to fight against what Flynn calls the “apex predator”
of the world, a High Dragon. Faster-paced combat isn’t for everyone
though, and more sedate players will be pleased to see a tactical
mode, eliminating time from combat, making the game a more precise
affair.

New teammates include Blackwall, a dwarven grey warden; Sarah,
an elf; Ironborn, a powerful warrior, and Olivia, a mage with her
own motivations.

EA also announced a new Mass Effect game, claiming it
takes the sci-fi series in a new direction that “only the new
generation of consoles can offer”. Very little information on the
game was actually provided though, so: new Mass Effect, at
some point.

Rachel Franklin, executive producer of The Sims 4,
showcased the new game and its personality generator. Players now
engage in a “deep simulation” where not just the appearance but the
behaviour and emotions of the Sim people are at your control.
Franklin pushed the concept of ‘Smarter Sims, Weirder Stories’, and
it does seem to offer a huge array of options for series fans. The
game launches on 2 September.
