A young man’s collection of YouTube video blogs appears to have taken on much greater significance after he became a suspect in a shooting spree in California.
Seven people have been killed and many more wounded after Elliot Rodger, who is believed to have been among the fatalities, ran amok in the student enclave of Isla Vista in Santa Barbara.
In the last video he uploaded to YouTube, Rodger, 22, declared: ‘Tomorrow is the day of retribution – the day in which I will have my revenge against humanity.
‘I’m 22 years old and I’m still a virgin. I’ve never even kissed a girl.’
Rodger, who has been confirmed as receiving psychiatric care by his family, spoke of his loneliness as a student at University of California – Santa Barbara after failing to get involved in the ‘sex, fun and pleasure’ the college experience is meant to provide.
Rodger repeatedly declares that he does not understand why women are not sexually attracted to him and gives chilling details of his proposed killing spree near the end of the video.
As many as 10 different videos were uploaded in the three days before the shootings, most of which discuss his loneliness and the injustice done to him, ‘the supreme gentleman’.
The Santa Barbara shooter was found by police with a single gunshot wound to the head.
Witnesses have claimed Rodger was the gunman while the police are currently investigating his YouTube channel, which has since been suspended.
