A boy-of-nine was heard screaming for someone to help his family after his mother was knifed to death.
Neighbours described seeing a young boy running from the house, in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, pleading for help, saying ‘someone needs to help my mummy and baby and brother’.
The youngster was said to have been covered in blood after being stabbed in the arm.
Mother-of-three Emma Mansell, 37, was taken to hospital with serious injuries on Sunday night but died later from her wounds.
Four children were also injured during the frenzied attack, believed to have been a domestic incident.
Boys aged nine and 11 were found with knife wounds at the home. Both were in hospital last night with serious but not life-threatening injuries. A boy of six and a six-month-old girl suffered minor injuries.
On resident said:’I heard a noise and looked out of my blind. I saw the little boy and he was absolutely covered in blood,’ she said.
‘I saw my two other neighbours run out and as I came out they said a boy had been run over.
‘He ran straight out of the alleyway of his house and on to the road. He said ‘someone needs to help my mummy and baby and brother’.
A 39-year-old man, named by neighbours as Ms Mansell’s partner, Johnny Sutton, was arrested on suspicion of murder.
