Exorcism is making a come back…just like high-tops or ripped jeans.
It’s thanks to Pope Franicis – who has prompted a rise in the number Catholics who believe they’ve been possessed by the Devil.
He is regularly quoted as mentioning Satan during his sermons whereas his predecessors routinely shied away from the topic.
This has led to an increased number of priest-exorcist vacancies across the world.
The stages of exorcism – according to book ‘Hostage to the Devil’
- Pretense – The demon is hiding its true identity
- Breakpoint – The demon reveals itself
- Clash – The exorcist and the demon fight for the soul of the possessed
- Expulsion – If the exorcist wins the battle, the demon leaves the body of the possessed
The Rome diocese has doubled its amount after listening to their leader and positions are being filled here in the UK as well.
Pope Francis has pointed his finger at the Devil for a number of wrongdoings including the Cartel drug wars in Mexico and civil unrest in the Middle East.
A typical exorcism involves a priest meeting the possessed and using a crucifix and holy water to banish the demon.
