Galaxy Note 4 arrives in UK on 10 October to battle iPhone 6 Plus

Galaxy Note 4 preorders open 19 September

Samsung’s latest phablet the Galaxy Note 4 will go up for preorder on 19 September – the same day the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are available to buy – before its release on 10 October. Pricing was not announced.

The Galaxy Note 4, which boasts a 5.7in screen, will be available for preorder from Samsung Experience Stores, and select retailers including Three and Carphone Warehouse will also begin taking orders for it from 26 September.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 4 at its Unpacked keynote at IFA in Berlin. The Galaxy Note 4 is listed as Samsung’s most enterprise-ready smartphone to date and comes loaded with a variety of productivity and security-focused services.

Chief of these is the Galaxy Note 4’s reworked S Pen Stylus and Knox 2.0 support. The Galaxy Note 4’s S Pen offers the same productivity services as previous Note styluses – such as the ability to scribble notes in apps such as S Note, or edit photos using the device – but Samsung claims it is twice as sensitive as the Note 3’s.

Knox is a sandboxing service that lets IT managers set up a separate password-protected work area on the device. The Knox 2.0 version that is compatible with the Galaxy Note 4 also offers advanced remote-wipe and mobile device management (MDM) powers.

Samsung has backed the Galaxy Note 4’s software up with some top-end hardware, loading the device with a sizeable 5.7in QHD 2560×1440 Super Amoled display, powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor.

It also has a 16MP rear camera and a 3,229mAh battery with Fast Charging. The Fast Charging feature is designed to let the Galaxy Note 4 charge from zero to 50 percent in 30 minutes.

Despite the Galaxy Note 4’s impressive on-paper specifications the device will face some stiff competition. The preorder date puts the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in direct competition with Apple’s first ever phablet the iPhone 6 Plus. Apple unveiled the iPhone 6 Plus on 10 September, listing the giant 5.5in device as its most advanced to date.
