‘Homestar Runner’ will return, promises creator (Wired UK)

Following three years of silence, the co-creator of Homestar
has announced that he’s bringing the seminal internet
cartoon back.

In an interview with the Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin show, Matt
Chapman said that the recent April Fool’s Day
will be followed by more original content. “When
we did that April Fools update this year, way more people looked at
it than we ever even imagined would have at this point,” said
Chapman. “Our goal — we did that thing as sort of a test to get
back into doing it. We’d love to start making things again.”

The Flash-animated series become one of the most-loved internet
cartoons during the first decade of the 21st century, spurring
collaborations with musicians like They Might Be Giants, the
Aquabats and Shellac. However the site has been near-dormant since

“I would just love to be making cartoons with those characters
again, that’s sort of the first thing that I’m thinking,” said
Chapman, but the main goal is not to go back to full-time releases.
“The goal will be to start making more stuff, hopefully on a more
frequent basis.”

Chapman promises that the site should start updating again in
the autumn.
