John Cantlie, a British journalist who is being held hostage by the Islamic State, has addressed the world in a new video released by ISIS.

Cantlie, who has worked at The Sun and The Sunday Telegraph among with many other UK publications, appears in the freshly released video sitting at a table with hands folded. The photographer and correspondent is dressed in the infamous orange jumpsuit that has become synonymous with Guantanamo Bay and the three previously released videos that featured the beheading of Cantile’s colleagues.

A silhouette of the man who was first apprehended in Syria in 2012, Cantlie calmly states that he has nothing to lose by speaking on behalf on his captors.

“Now, I know what you’re thinking,” he said. “You’re thinking: ‘He’s only doing this because he’s a prisoner. He’s got a gun at his head and he’s being forced to do this.’ Right? Well, it’s true. I am a prisoner, that I cannot deny.”

“But seeing as I’ve been abandoned by my government and my fate now lies in the hands of the Islamic State, I have nothing to lose,” he said. “Maybe I will live and maybe I will die, but I want to take this opportunity to convey some facts that you can verify. Facts that if you contemplate, might help preserving lives.”

He later goes on to express this is the first in a series of videos where he will clarify “manipulated” reports by the western media concerning the Islamic State. “There are two sides to every story,” Cantlie said.

Is this video a propaganda tactic by the bloodthirsty warmongers in Washington or is it an authentic video to entice war on the terrorists home field? For now we can’t know, but what we do know is that the propaganda is strong with this one.
