Now, we all know that goats prefer German cars. But did anyone know that the Volkswagen is their first choice?

You do now, thanks to this adventurous billy goat gruff, who was spotted travelling on the A55 outside Chester in the ‘small but tough’ Polo hatchback.

Many questions are raised by this photo. Was the goat wearing a seat belt? It doesn’t look like it was. Did it have a say in the choice of  music? We hope so. Was it late for an appointment? Who knows.

We may never know the answers to these questions – but if you are the driver of the car, please do get in touch to enlighten us.

In what you could say was a statement of the obvious, the man behind the camera, Chris Cousens, 29, from Hoole, Chester, pointed out it was a rare thing to see a farmyard animal in the boot of a family hatchback.

‘You are used to seeing dogs in the back of cars,’ he said, ‘but I’ve never seen a goat before.’
