Just look at this drab scene, but not for too long, because every second you spend staring at it a piece of your soul withers away and dies.

The photo of Liscard town centre in Merseyside went viral last Christmas because it summed up everything wrong with modern-day Britain: Budget cuts and excessive health and safety.

Its centre-piece was branded the most depressing Christmas tree of 2014.

And Liscard obviously took it to heart, because officials have just unveiled their 2015 tree. Yes, in April.

Here it is:

FROM JOHN JEFFAY AT CASCADE NEWS LTD 0161 660 8087 / 07771 957773 Syndicated for Wirral Globe the 2015 tree, already in place A TOWN which bore the shame of having one of Britain's worst Christmas trees last year has unveiled its 2015 effort - and it's still only April. Santa will make a super-early appearance (on Wednesday 29 April) with reindeer and snow as Liscard, on the Wirral, Merseyside, makes amends for its dismal failure on the festive front last year. It appeared on a list of ìThe 13 Worst Christmas Trees in Britainî by the news website BuzzFeed. Residents set up a Facebook page complaining about the "depressing" tree. It showed the solitary tree - donated by nearby Primark - surrounded by a metal fence, secured in concrete blocks. The event - 240 days before Christmas - is part of a campaign by local taxi boss Danny McLeod and the town's Cherry Tree Shopping Centre

Obviously it’s bigger and better than the last one. But we’re still not impressed. I mean, it looks fake and the central foliage is inadequate because we can see the hallow structure within.

It’s far too triangular, and what’s with that plant pot?

You’re not fooling anyone, Liscard.
