MariaDB has released an update for the MariaDB Enterprise MySQL database, adding enhancements to improve its suitability as the back-end for cloud services and software-as-a-service deployments.
The MariaDB Enterprise Spring 2015 release introduces optimised server executables that are claimed to increase overall database performance by over 15 percent, as well as enhanced high availability and scalability on IBM’s Power8 server platform, and updates to the firm’s MaxScale database proxy tool to boost security.
MariaDB Enterprise, which is the paid-for version of MariaDB, comes with a broader selection of tools and other enhancements to address the needs of mission-critical applications.
The optional MariaDB MaxScale database proxy now provides features such as security protection against SQL injection attacks, while MariaDB Enterprise now works with more versions of Linux on IBM’s Power8 enterprise systems.
