A neglected rabbit has been found dumped in a cardboard box with a note scrawled on the side saying: ‘My owner’s benefit has been cut.’
The five-year-old bunny, nicknamed Kieren, was left abandoned next to old clothes and rubbish in a west London park.
He was covered in fleas with matted fur when he was discovered by a member of the public on Wednesday, according to the Kilburn Times.
The rabbit was taken to the Mayhew Animal Home in Kensal Green, where staff found he had a severe ear infection and overgrown nails.
Samantha Saunders, a vet at the Mayhew, said: ‘The frustrating thing about cases like poor Kieren is that there are many outlets out there that are available that offers low cost preventative measures and his suffering could have easily been avoided.’
The animal home is looking for a suitable home for the Kieren, which he can live once he is well enough to leave the surgery.
