NOOOOOOOOOOO!
For anyone with a fear of heights this is probably their worst nightmare.
This group of backpackers were walking across a bridge in New Zealand when the bridge collapsed under their feet, sending them falling 30ft into the ravine below.
One of the cables on the suspension bridge is believed to have snapped under their weight, with platform they were walking across ‘releasing’ and then catapulting them over the side.
New Zealand’s Department of Conservation is now investigating the incident, which happened on September 3.
Mike Slater, the operations manager, told the New Zealand Herald: ‘As a result that has upset the stability of the bridge and that’s where people that were on the bridge have slipped off and fallen.’
Luckily for them, the ravine was filled with water and they survived unscathed.
Even so, this video – uploaded by Adrien Whistle, is still pretty traumatic for all involved.
The French hikers were hiking the Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk at the time.
