WIRED Next Generation 2013: The HighlightsWired UK

British ESA astronaut Tim Peake and the
Rizzle Kicks are joining the line-up for this
year’s Wired Next Generation, our one-day event designed to inspire
teenagers.

Now in its second year, Wired
Next Generation
— the third day of our 2014 event
is dedicated to inspiring young minds by showcasing innovators,
designers, coders, inventors, artists and performers. The event
also aims to raise awareness of the need for stronger science,
technology, engineering, arts and maths education in the UK
today.

New speakers include:

  • Tim Peake, a British ESA astronaut who
    is currently training for his long-duration mission to the
    International Space Station, scheduled for launch in November
    2015 
  • Jordan Stephens and Harley
    Alexander-Sule
    , aka Rizzle
    Kicks 
  • Darcus Beese, president of Island
    Records 
  • Roma Agrawal, structural engineer who
    recently worked on the Shard 
  • Beth Reekles, YA author and physics
    student who has penned The Kissing Booth and Rolling
    Dice
    , both published by Random House 
  • Fleur de Force, Fashion and beauty
    blogger whose YouTube videos attract millions of views per
    month 
  • Suli Breaks, spoken word
    artist

They will be joining previously confirmed speakers including:
Ze Frank, composer, humourist, public speaker and
executive vice president of video at BuzzFeed; Ryan
Genz
and Francesca Rosella, respectively
CEO and cofounder, and chief creative director at fashion house
CuteCircuit; Dave Glass and Kill
Cooper
, founder and art director of Hungry Castle, who
create large-scale works inspired by internet pop culture;
programmer and artist Alex Allmont and
Patrick Stevenson-Keating from collaborative
design studio Studio PSK.

Wired Next Generation will be held on Saturday 18 October, 2014
at London’s Tobacco Dock, following Wired 2014 on 16 and 17
