NetSuite spruces up software interface with HTML5 rebuild

Enterprise software provider NetSuite has announced a redesign of its interface using HTML5 technology in order to meet the wide range of devices customers use to access its systems.

The redesign was unveiled at the firm’s annual SuiteWorld conference in San Jose. Founder and chief technology officer Evan Goldberg said the new layout should make its software even easier to use and understand.

“Since the day I founded NetSuite I have spent much of my time tackling one of the thorniest challenges in building complex mission-critical business applications: making them not only easy to use, but also enjoyable,” he said.

“Our new UI was not only designed with customers in mind, in some ways it was actually designed by customers. The result is an experience that really sets the standard for modern business applications.”

As well as moving to HTML5 for its redesign NetSuite also touted new navigational features to help users find key information more quickly, and a focus on improving the functionality of software on tablet devices.

Additionally, NetSuite announced a tool for helping firms deal more efficiently with customer care issues. The B2B Customer Center is designed to let businesses manage and track key information from other business customers in a similar manner to consumer buyers.

This allow firms to monitor key information such as order status, details and history, track shipments, reorder goods, approve quotes, make payments and request refunds and returns, from a secure, password-protected system.

NetSuite’s general manager for commerce produce, Andy Lloyd, said that introducing these capabilities for the B2B community was a key step forward.

“B2B e-commerce is a catalyst for growth that enables companies to reach new customers and markets while improving efficiency across the value chain,” he said.

“The B2B Customer Center sweetens the deal for sellers and buyers alike with capabilities to streamline the B2B commerce experience and move more business to the faster and more productive online channel.”

The updates come amid ongoing success for NetSuite, which earlier this year posted strong financials driven by growing demand for its cloud suite of tools.
