Good news for London’s beleaguered live music scene: the Camden site where Barfly was based will become a new music venue for the capital.
Acts due to appear in the opening weeks include rising grime artist AJ Tracey, DJ duo The 2 Bears, and soul singer Andrew Ashong.
Food will come from the supremely popular Lucky Chip.
“We wanted the line ups to reflect the times, where no one listens to just one genre of music anymore; where you are just as likely to see Section Boys or Diplo at Reading as you are Radiohead,” says The Camden Assembly head of music, Andy Peyton.
“We want this venue not to be a monument to the glory days of indie, or the glory days of Camden, or the glory days of The Barfly. Instead we hope it will be a forward thinking reflection of the eclectic tastes young people have today, something Camden and London can be proud of.”
The venue opens on 15 September. For more details and forthcoming artists, see the website.
