Donning a short coat, it certainly looked like the cold didn’t bothered her.

Youngsters across the pond who were lucky enough to meet the Duchess of Cambridge today were convinced they’d actually met Princess Elsa from the Disney movie Frozen.

Children at a mental health centre in Harlem, New York, welcomed Kate with cries of ‘princess’.

The Duchess sat down at a tiny table where the three and four-year-olds were decorating picture frames with stars and tinsel flowers.

Rose Ann Harris, director of early childhood services at the Northside Centre for Child Development, said: ‘They thought she was the Princess from Frozen.

‘When they heard she was coming they thought it was Elsa – we said a Princess and they got a Princess.

‘The visit meant everything to the children, they were thrilled and it acknowledges all the hard work of the staff.’

Later Kate showed her Christmas spirit when she joined Harlem grandmothers wrapping presents for some of New York’s poorest children.
