A 12-year-old girl, described as a ‘gorgeous young lady’ by her family, has died after falling from a youth centre wall in Exeter.

Nicole Hartup was involved in the accident at the Phoenix Club in Burnthouse Lane at around 8.45pm yesterday.

She died later at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Nicole’s aunt Sabina Denham said the family were devastated by her death.

‘My gorgeous, beautiful niece Nicole Hartup has gone to live with the angels,’ she wrote on Facebook.

‘As everyone can imagine the family are absolutely devastated beyond words. Please respect our family’s wishes while we are going through this awful grieving stage.

‘Nicole Hartup you are now your mum and dad’s shining star xx xx R.I.P darling lots of love all of your family….We love you xxxxxxxxxx’

Nicole, who was a student at the Isca College of Media Arts in Exeter, was also described as an angel.

Caroline Jackson added: ‘R.I.P Nicole such a gorgeous young lady, u will never be forgotten always in our hearts forever.’

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said they are still investigating the exact circumstances of Nicole’s death but no one is being sought in connection.
