The parent company of Ashley Madison, the hacked adult relationship network, has said its CEO Noel Biderman has left the company.

Avid Life Media said Biderman had made the change “in the best interest of the company”.

“[This change] allows us to continue to provide support to our members and dedicated employees,” the statement said. “We are steadfast in our commitment to our customer base.”

No new CEO has yet been appointed Avid Life Media said, and police inquiries continue into the hack which released the private details of 36 million Ashley Madison users, the credit card information and relationship preferences.

Avid Life added that it was “actively adjusting to the attack on our business and members’ privacy by criminals. We will continue to provide access to our unique platforms for our worldwide members.”

“We are actively cooperating with international law enforcement in an effort to bring those responsible for the theft of proprietary member and business information to justice.”
