A 22-year-old man is awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of the murder of his teenage ex-girlfriend 24 hours after she told him she was expecting his baby.

The former bin man was found guilty of strangling his ex-girlfriend to death following a five week trial with the Jury returning a majority verdict of 11-1 after 20 hours of a deliberation.

Oxford Crown Court heard that Jayden Parkinson had previously reported boyfriend Ben Blakeley to police after he threatened to post intimate photos and videos of her naked on Facebook.

On hearing the guilty verdict, gasps of relief were heard from Jayden’s mother and family.

Her mother Erica Simms,47, started crying and was reported to scream ‘My baby’ after leaving the courtroom.

Ben Blakeley was described as ‘emotionless’ as he was led out of the court to the cells  for 24 hours to await his sentence.
