Sega’s upcoming terror-fest Alien Isolation will launch
with two DLC packages bringing back the cast of 1979’s science
fiction classic.

It’s been 17 years since Sigourney Weaver stepped into her
iconic role of Ellen Ripley, last seen onscreen in 1997’s
Alien: Resurrection. The actor is still in love with the
character though, saying recently that “there is more story to tell”. Come 7 October, Weaver will get
chance to tell it, but not in the format fans may have
expected.

Along with fellow actors Tom Skerritt (who played Dallas in
Ridley Scott’s movie), Veronica Cartwright (Lambert), Harry Dean
Stanton (Brett), and Yaphet Kotto (Parker), Weaver will lend her
voice and likeness to pre-order bonus missions for the upcoming
game, recreating sections of the film and serving as prequel to the
main game’s events. The missions will retain the core focus of the
movie and new game, with the emphasis being on avoiding the alien
at all costs — survival horror in space.

The first, Crew Expendable, is set moments after
Brett’s death (it’s a 35 year old movie, people — the statute of
spoiler limitations has long since passed) and allows players to
control Ripley, Dallas, or Parker as they attempt to lure the
xenomorph into the airlock to destroy it. The second, Last
Survivor
, recreates the final scene of the film, with Ripley
trying to activate the Nostromo’s self-destruct systems before
making her escape.

“Working with the original cast has been an incredible
experience,” said Alistair Hope, Creative Lead on Alien: Isolation.
“It was important to us to have the key original cast members
reprise their roles in order to perfectly capture the atmosphere of
the movie. For some of the original cast, this is their first
appearance in an Alien video game. Seeing them reprise those roles
after 35 years was an unforgettable experience.”

While this will be the first time Weaver has voiced Ripley, it
won’t be the actor’s first time appearing in a game. She previously
reprised her role as Dr Grace Augustine in the video game prequel
to Avatar.

Everyone who pre-orders Alien Isolation will receive
Crew Expendable as part of the upgrade to what Sega is
calling the ‘Nostromo Edition’, while Last Survivor is
limited to those who pre-order through specific retailers.
