Students at Strathmore Uni in Nairobi, Kenya, were injured as they tried to escape the building – some across rivers.
Pictures have emerged on Twitter showing terrified students spilling out of windows and seeking refuge on the side of the uni.

Witnesses claim to have heard gunshot sounds from within the building.
However, police have since confirmed that it was part of a drill.
‘It was a mock exercise,’ Japheth Koome, the police commander in the capital said. ‘We wanted to check on alertness of emergency services.’
According to Modern Kenyan Corps Facebook page, the drill was announced yesterday.
