The Art Newspaper reports that Phillips auction house, which gained a new chairman this July in Christie’s veteran Edward Dolman, has made two high profile hires recently.
The company named Matt Carey-Williams deputy chairman of Europe and Asia and Damien Whitmore as its creative director. Carey-Williams comes to Phillips from Haunch of Venison and White Cube, while Whitmore “managed the complete repositioning of the Tate brand and directed the launch of Tate Modern,” The Art Newspaper writes, quoting a press release.
All this comes shortly after the opening of the house’s impressive new headquarters in London.
