Um… what? (Picture: Policia Civil)

Police helicopters assisting in a kidnapping case were shocked to find a swastika in a swimming pool in the garden of a private home.

The Civil Police in the Brazilian city of Pomerode say they will not prosecute the property’s owner because it is on private land.

Authorities say the pool has had the swastika for 13 years and that its owner says they do not promote Nazism.

Adolf Hitler and the Nazis incorporated the ancient symbol, considered sacred to Hindus and Buddhists, into their party iconography in 1920, leading to it being synonymous with the fascist regime.
