Police are currently hunting for a pensioner who attempted to rob a bank with the help of a firearm.

The suspect was described as being in his 60s or 70s with receding grey hair and beard.

The OAP attempted his hold-up in a TSB branch on Holt high street in North Norfolk.

The cashier refused the wannabe robber’s demands and he was forced to leave empty handed.

Detective Graeme Talbot of Great Yarmouth CID said of the crime: ‘No staff member was hurt but they were obviously surprised and upset by what happened.’

‘This was an unusual and isolated incident which was over very quickly but it is important we identify this individual at the earliest opportunity.’

Norfolk Police are asking anyone with information to contact Great Yarmouth CID on 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
