To everyone’s complete lack of surprise, Prince Harry isn’t that fussed about moving one step further away from the throne.

Asked to sum up his feelings on being pushed down the pecking order, Harry, 30, simply said ‘great’.

He was speaking at the Invictus Games event in London before the royal birth. Now in Australia with the armed forces, he said he ‘can’t wait’ to meet his ‘absolutely beautiful’ niece.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s second child – whose name has yet to be revealed – was born on Saturday morning at the private Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.

Gun salutes in Hyde Park and the Tower of London took place today to mark the birth.

Prince Harry was third in line to the throne when he was born in 1984. He is now fifth in line.
