The internet has been awash with stories about the leaked photos of celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton, with everyone trying to take a more noble approach than the last to the nude snaps.

While thousands (if not millions) happily gazed at the private pictures the women took, others have attempted to take a higher road, with some even setting up a donation page, crudely called ‘Reddit: The Fappening’, where people who viewed the images can absolve their guilt by donating to the Prostate Cancer Foundation ‘in honour’ of the women.

The name of the page is a play in the word ‘fap’, which is a slang term for masturbation.

However, the charity have announced that they do not wish money to be raised for them in this manner and therefore ‘out of respect for everyone involved and in keeping with our own standards’ they are refunding all donations made through the page.

A statement on the Prostate Cancer Foundation’s website said: ‘We would never condone raising funds for cancer research in this manner.’

The intention behind the donation page, which was set up by Reddit users, was also imbued in toilet humour, with founders quipping that as masturbation can help prevent prostate cancer, Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton have already done their part in helping the cause.

Before the donation page was removed, it was the top fundraiser on the charity’s website.
