The Pulse contemporary art fair, which opens its New York edition this week, has announced new dates for its Miami Beach fair edition, which will return to a tent in Indian Beach Park this year. This year it will run from Tuesday, December 1, through Saturday, December 5, a shift from the Thursday opening and Sunday closing it has gone with in years past.

Art Basel Miami Beach opens to VIPs the following day, on Wednesday, December 2, meaning that Pulse is angling to grab the attention of early arrivers.

“After speaking with a number of collectors, many of whom now to travel to Miami earlier in the week, and consulting with our core community of exhibitors, it was clear we needed to change our dates,” the fair’s director, Helen Toomer, said in a statement released to press. “We look forward to offering our visitors additional time to discover great artworks at Pulse Miami Beach and also provide a chance for our exhibitors to enjoy all that Miami has to offer, with a day off on Sunday.”

This year’s Pulse Miami Beach will fill 50,000 square feet of beachside exhibition space, across two tents, and feature 80 local and international galleries. The main tent will showcase Pulse curated group shows alongside Pulse Prize-nominated Impulse solo artist presentations.

Next door, the Points Pavilion will house Points exhibitors—a smaller and more affordable platform for unconventional models, nonprofits, first-time exhibitors, and projects that are unable to fit within traditional gallery spaces.

Traditional programming, such as Projects, Perspectives, and Play, will once again be on tap this year.
