The Lower East Side’s Richard Taittinger Gallery announced that it now exclusively represents the estate of Nassos Daphnis (1914–2010). The late Greek-American painter and sculptor, whose work in color theory and geometric abstraction placed him in the hard-edge school, was previously represented by Leo Castelli Gallery.

Daphnis will be featured in a solo exhibition at Taittinger on September 16, where never-before-seen paintings, dated from 1988 to 1992, will go on view. According to a release:

This body of work not only reflects upon the development of early computer based-graphics created in the 1980’s, but also translates Daphnis’ color-plane theory in radical digital landscapes. The exhibition will reveal how Daphnis spearheaded the introduction of new media, such as computer-generated graphics and pixelated shapes, into the more traditional format of painting.

Additionally, the show’s catalogue will include an essay written by Anthony Haden-Guest.
