Samsung Galaxy Alpha UK release and pre-order details announced

Samsung has announced that the Galaxy Alpha will be available for pre-order in the UK from August 28th (that’s a week today) and will be on sale generally from September 12th.

Pre-orders will be available from the Samsung e-store and “select partners”, and the shop release will actually be slightly staggered: With Samsung “Experience Stores” and the Samsung Store at Westfield Stratford City selling the phone from the 10th September – with the likes of Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U having to wait until the 12th.

The Galaxy Alpha is positioned at the classier end of Samsung’s range: The big selling point is the metal case in contrast to pretty much every other Samsung being made of plastic. Spec-wise it is almost on-par with the flagship Galaxy S5 – sporting a quadcore 2.5ghz processor, but with a slightly smaller 4.6″ display, and a 12MP camera (down from 16MP).

We’ll hopefully give it a try as soon as it is out.
