Customers will be able to either exchange their existing device for a new Note 7 as early as next week, or exchange it for aor phone while receiving a refund of the price difference.
“Samsung is taking a proactive approach to address customer needs around the Note 7,” Tim Baxter, president of Samsung Electronics America said in a statement. “The safety and satisfaction of our customers is Samsung’s top priority.”
The phone has been on sale for two weeks and the company announced that it had sold 2.5 million devices worldwide as of Friday. However, the company received 35 separate reports of battery issues. People have been posting images on social media of charred Galaxy Note 7 phones, claiming that they overheated or exploded.
In addition, affected customers will be receiving either a $25 gift card or a bill credit from select carriers after exchanging the device for a new one.
