A mother who had her two children taken away after allegedly leaving them alone in a car has received $115,000 (£68,000) in donations following the release of her tearful mugshot.

Shanesha Taylor, 35, from Arizona, was arrested in March after police found her ‘distressed’ children in a parked car by themselves.

The temperature inside had reportedly exceeded 100 Fahrenheit (38 Celsius).

They had been left there by their mother who was attending a job interview, it is alleged.

The money was raised for Ms Taylor through an internet campaign started by New Jersey woman Amanda Bishop, 24, who was moved by the mugshot.

‘I am flooded with emails everyday from people asking questions and it is so hard to keep up with all of them. I’m just a 24-year-old girl struggling like Shanesha who set this up. I never expected it to blow up this big but I’m still oh so glad it did,’ she wrote on the page.

‘Thank you all so much for your donations and help. I too am struggling to keep my head above water and can relate to all your stories and offers. This is an experience I will truly cherish for the rest of my life.’

The cash will help her pay for her legal bills.

Ms Taylor has been allowed supervised visits with her two sons, aged six months and two years, as she awaits trial on two felony child abuse charges, stated attorney Benjamin Taylor.

‘She is very happy that our request was granted,’ he said. ‘She really misses her children and can’t wait to see them.’

She pleaded not guilty to charges in April. Her trial has been set for September 4th.
