He’s at it again. The convicted liar Chris Huhne is once again exonerating himself in his Guardian column – an unintentional comic masterpiece.

This week, he’s attacking prison sentences for short-sentence criminals. He’s talking about Andy Coulson but we all know who he really means:

“Coulson’s sentence tells us more about the vindictive nature of our justice system – and of public opinion – than it does about his crimes. In a century, we will look back on today’s penal practices with scarcely less surprise than the way we currently see, say, the 1723 Black Act, which introduced 50 new hanging offences, including one for “hiding in a forest while disguised.”

No – it’s only you, Chris Huhne, who thinks your deserved punishment is on a par with hanging people for hiding in a forest.

You lied and lied to cling on to your position as a Cabinet Minister. You deserved every day of your short sentence – to ensure your complete humiliation; and to ensure that you never again rise to a position of any power where you can lecture the rest of us on good behaviour.
